In Spring 2025, the University of Oklahoma (OU) Libraries launched a strategic initiative to advance artificial
intelligence (AI) literacy and innovation through a series of hands-on workshops and a dedicated AI infrastructure
pilot. The core vision of this program is to educate, empower, and enable the OU community—students, faculty, and
staff—to engage with artificial intelligence in meaningful and practical ways across research, instruction, and
creative work.
This presentation will share insights from the development, design, and implementation of OU Libraries’ AI
initiatives, highlighting real-world use cases and user experiences that demonstrate their impact on teaching,
learning, and research. In addition, future directions for expanding AI literacy and access in higher education and
offer practical strategies for academic libraries and institutions seeking to establish their own AI programs. By
showcasing this collaborative and scalable model, OU Libraries aims to inspire and equip institutions to build similar
frameworks that democratize AI access and foster innovation across campus.
Participants will learn about the following University Library services:
1. Advance AI Literacy and Pedagogical Integration
2. Enhance Research Capabilities Using AI Tools
3. Artificial Intelligence Services for Research and Instruction
