The United States of America is a nation born in revolution, with a history marked by great moral tragedy and by great moral triumph.
Understanding that history is essential, in no small part because the unique experience and responsibilities of American citizenship require a sense of how we got to be where we are. At the University of Oklahoma, we believe the study of the American past is essential to prepare students for bright futures as the informed citizens and responsible leaders of tomorrow.
The American history survey courses, 1483 and 1493, offer students the privilege and unique opportunity of learning about the country’s past while working with the University of Oklahoma’s most distinguished and senior history faculty.
